What is a solar dermatitis?



It is a common skin reaction that is caused by exposure to the sun's rays, which cause damage to the skin more or less depending on its type, being most sensitive skins pale. Sunlight is particularly rich in UV radiation in areas close to the sea and high altitudes. The skin lesion is higher the greater the intensity of sunlight and length of exposure and lower the degree of pigmentation of the exposed area.


What are the symptoms of dermatitis solar?

Sunburn starts with an intense cutaneous flushing hours after exposure, followed by the formation of small vesicles or fluid-filled skin blisters, in areas that have been exposed to sunlight. At the end there is the peeling and healing of the lesion. Where are mild (solar erythema), redness follows directly from the flaking can occur and skin. Sometimes symptoms may appear as a general fever, headache and vomiting.


Who is most at risk of suffering from dermatitis solar?

Solar erythema is most common in patients with pale skin, red hair and freckled. It is very common in children and young women, and tends to recur in successive exposures. They are less common in dark-skinned races, Mediterranean, Indian, black.
